Tobia Scarpa
Italian architect and designer Tobia Scarpa is one of the defining figures of twentieth-century Italian design. Born in Venice in 1935, his career spans architecture, furniture, glass and interiors, with work recognized for its exceptional understanding of material, structure and function. Many of his designs were created alongside his wife and creative partner, Afra Scarpa, and today form part of important museum collections around the world.
Scarpa’s work is characterized by an enduring quality—forms that are structurally intelligent, beautifully resolved and remarkably relevant decades after their creation. His historic designs are represented within Tacchini’s re-edition collection, bringing important works of Italian design into contemporary interiors.
