Mario Bellini

Italian architect and designer Mario Bellini is one of the most influential figures in modern Italian design. A graduate of the Politecnico di Milano, his career spans architecture, furniture and industrial design, earning him eight Compasso d’Oro awards. Twenty-five of his works are held in the permanent design collection at MoMA in New York, which dedicated a retrospective to his work in 1987.

Bellini’s work is defined by a remarkable ability to unite function, form and the way people actually live. For Trove, his connection to Tacchini is particularly relevant through the revival of his radical 1972 modular seating system, Le Mura.

“Le Mura was the very first sofa I designed.”
